Job guides
FREE for job applicants. Fulfilment centres and depot jobs often need a Basic DBS — confirm what you need before induction.
Many do. Large fulfilment sites, retail DCs and temp agencies often require a Basic DBS check so they can screen for unspent convictions before you handle stock or enter secure buildings.
Agency and permanent roles may share the same policy. Ask your recruiter early — a missing certificate is a common reason start dates slip.
Standard pick-pack, returns and goods-in roles usually need Basic. Enhanced is uncommon unless the site involves eligible activity (for example certain healthcare logistics). If someone asks for Enhanced, confirm the registered body route — individuals cannot apply for their own Enhanced check.
Confirm the level first if you are unsure
Not sure whether your offer means Basic or something else? Start FREE for job applicants. If Basic is required, continue to a Basic DBS application — that path has the official DBS fee, not £0.

Many large fulfilment and retail distribution employers (or their agencies) require a Basic DBS. Policies vary by site and contract — check your offer.
Some sites allow limited access; many do not. Do not assume you can start — confirm with the employer or agency.
Both roles usually use a Basic certificate. The application is the same type; only employer recency rules differ.
The official Basic DBS fee is £21.50. Support fees, if any, are shown before payment.
